Acceptable Use Policy

This policy explains what you may and may not run on Servano. It forms part of the Terms of Service and applies to every plan, including Free.

We are a hosting provider under Article 6 of the Digital Services Act: we do not monitor your content proactively, and we act on notice. That protection — for you and for every other customer sharing our infrastructure — only holds if we respond quickly when something is reported.

What you may not host

Illegal content

  • Material that infringes copyright, trademarks or other intellectual property.
  • Child sexual abuse material. Accounts are terminated immediately, without warning, and reported to the competent authorities.
  • Content that is unlawful, defamatory, or incites violence, terrorism or hatred.
  • Unlicensed gambling, unlicensed pharmaceutical sales, or other regulated activity you are not authorised to carry out.

Abuse and attacks

  • Phishing pages, credential-harvesting forms, malware, ransomware, or command-and-control infrastructure.
  • Port scanning, penetration testing, or attacks against systems you do not own.
  • Spam, unsolicited bulk email, or open mail relays.
  • Cryptocurrency mining, in the browser or on our servers.
  • Proxy, VPN or anonymisation services offered to third parties.
  • Deliberately circumventing plan limits, quotas, or billing.

Resource abuse

  • File distribution, mirroring, torrent trackers, or media streaming as the primary purpose of a site.
  • Workloads that disproportionately degrade the platform for other customers.

Free plans additionally may not be used for commercial file distribution or purely as bandwidth or storage endpoints.

How we detect problems

  • Automated checks. Every deployment is scanned before it goes live for known mining scripts, obfuscated code, credential-harvesting forms and large executables. Live sites are re-checked daily against Google Safe Browsing. A hit puts the site in a review queue; a confirmed Safe Browsing listing suspends it automatically, because it harms every other customer on the same address.
  • Reports. Anyone can report content at servano.io/abuse or by writing to abuse@servano.io. Every report gets a ticket ID and a first response within 24 hours.

What happens when a rule is broken

| Severity | Our response | | --- | --- | | CSAM, active attack | Immediate suspension, no prior notice, reported to authorities | | Phishing, malware, mining | Suspension within 4 hours, customer notified with reasons | | Copyright claim | Customer notified, 48 hours to respond, then suspension | | Unclear or borderline | Human review, we contact you before acting where feasible |

Suspension means the site stops being served. Your files, databases and settings are not deleted — nothing is destroyed while a case is open.

Your right to appeal

Every suspension comes with a written statement of reasons and the route to appeal, as required by Article 20 of the Digital Services Act. Reply to that email or write to abuse@servano.io within 30 days, quoting your project name. A person reviews every appeal — not an automated system — and you get a reasoned answer.

Questions

If you are unsure whether your use case is allowed — security research, a pentest lab, an unusual workload — ask us first at support@servano.io. We would much rather answer a question than suspend a site.
